Where did Elon Musk go wrong with Tesla

As a matter of fact, Elon Musk and Tesla are just getting started.
Recent controversies, such as CEO Elon Musk’s “funding secured” tweet and inconsistent performances on the stock market are short-term distractions.
Yes, they’re inconvenient. However, they’re nothing more than minor distractions for Tesla and Elon Musk.
In the long term, Tesla will be one of the most successful companies in the world and we’ll learn that these early days were just setting the stage for future success.
Tesla had a great Q3 2018.
The company is yet to release its official financial report, but we’re waiting patiently and all signs have been pointing towards something good.
Tesla might not be profitable, like CEO Elon Musk had been hoping for.[1]However, after all they’ve been through this year, I’m certain that Tesla will end 2018 stronger than ever.

Where’s the evidence though?
The company reported record deliveries in Q3 2018. The company delivered more than 55,000 of their mass market Model 3s and almost 30,000 units combined of the Model S and Model X.[2]
The Model 3 was also the fifth best selling car in America, back in August of 2018. Some estimates moved it up a ranking, for September’s leaderboard, pegging it as the fourth best selling car.[3]
As Tesla continues to crank out more and more Model 3s, we can expect more good news for the company.
Not to mention their flourishing energy business.
Tesla Energy is the company’s renewable energy and battery storage division. It was born out of the company’s 2016 acquisition of SolarCity, and has continued SolarCity’s legacy of equipping the world with the means of sustaining itself on solar energy.[4]
Even Seeking Alpha, one of Tesla’s most disparaging critics, admitted Tesla Energy was an undervalued asset.

Past 2018, there’s even more good news.
The highly anticipated Model Y, Tesla’s mass market crossover, is expected to be unveiled on March 15th, 2019.[5] The Tesla Semi-Truck will begin production the next year. [6]

Elon Musk didn’t go wrong with Tesla.
However, due to Musk’s volatility, the media will continue to portray Tesla as a dying company on its last legs. Which, could very well happen if the company doesn’t play its cards right.
