The best phone is the one that satisfies all your needs without giving you much trouble. And those needs differ from person to person.
My needs and expectations of a smartphone are very limited. I use it just for calls, messages, music, occasional web browsing, some common apps like reminders and social media, occasional photographs, and some silly games(Angry Birds). So any phone that helps me accomplish all these things in less money and less headache is the ideal phone for me.
Though I have a fair amount of knowledge in mobile phones, I am not a technical geek. So, I wouldn’t use highly technical, overpriced smartphone because I won't be using it to its extent.
I was a window phone user and a very satisfied one. But Android interface has its own merits. So I bought a second phone Panasonic P88 for work purpose (It is easier to run major apps on Android). It has been a year and now I use only Panasonic as I fell in love with Android OS. For a price range of $100 is has exceeded all my expectations.
Different smartphones are good for different reasons. I have mentioned the best phones under the respective popular category.
Operating System
If you want to experience iOS, you need not buy the latest iPhone in the market. They have not created amazing technologies since iPhone 5. The latest iPhone (iPhone XS Max) has a large display, a good camera and a large storage space but you will have to spend $1500. Why would you waste your money like that? The best camera is so far of Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. It also provides you expandable memory up to 512Gb and a huge screen. And it will cost you around $750.
If you are buying an iPhone just for the name, I cannot help you there. But I would still recommend iPhone 8 Plus. It has all the features of the latest iPhone and you can update to the upcoming modifications anytime.
If you are looking for the best Android phone that money can buy, I would say Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. This device comes with a top-notch hardware, user-friendly UI,6.2-inch display that's almost bezeless too. This device has the best camera among all available Android phones in the world today.

Here comes My Phone. Yey! Spoiler this is not for hardcore mobile phone users. It has Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) but you will never feel like it. The processor is Mediatek MT6737M but it never lags like ever unless you want to play high graphics games like PUBG. This phone is meant for Angry Birds, not PUBG. It has a 5.3-inch screen with HD IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen display and a resolution of 720 x 1280. But it won’t pain your hands. The only issue I have with this phone is the storage space. No heating issues whatsoever. If you will feel like the phone is acting funny at times just Reboot it and you are good to go. I know it might not be the right way but it works every time.

Unlike me, if you are so much into mobile technology and make the best use of it then Samsung S9 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Huawei P20 pro and iPhone 8 Plus are the phones for you.

Sound
If you play music all the time as I do, you would want a cell phone that has the best sound quality. I do not like to play my songs out loud though. So I invest in a better headphone. I can’t believe there are smartphones without the headphone jack. They are just a waste of space in my opinion.
Samsung Galaxy S9 takes the crown in this department. It has powerful speakers and a traditional headphone jack. This is a top choice for those after general music performance.
Design
Well, it depends on how you want your cell phone to look like. I like the design of

Durability

If you are organized and charge phone regularly you do not need a huge battery. It is for the lazy people. But lazy people should also keep in mind that having a phone with the battery above 4500mAh is you playing with danger. But large phones need big batteries so I’ll spare the bash for now.
