What are the biggest tech fails of 2017

Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL XL
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were made by different companies. HTC made the Pixel 2 and LG made the Pixel 2 XL. While HTC’s Pixel 2 didn’t have any hardware issues, the XL was plagued with them. Many users reported having issues with OLED burn-in, which is basically this:
It’s a bit hard to see, but if you look, you can see that a faded status bar is shown despite it not actually being displayed. OLED burn-in can occur when a particular image stays on the screen long enough to “burn in”, causing it to not fully go away when it is not being displayed.
The other issue people complained about was blue shift— the screen would be tinted blue.
These are both images of Pixel 2 XLs shown. The phone on the right in the first picture has the blue shift issue, and in picture 2 you can compare with blue shift vs no blue shift. It’s not noticeable but in a more severe case would be very annoying.
In addition to the screen issue, Google also managed to ship some Pixel 2 XLs without Android (so there was no operating system):
Shipped a Pixel 2 that failed quality control:
Included empty packaging for wired Pixel Buds in a Pixel 2 box:
And had issues with clicking noises on Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL that it had to send software updates out for.
Definitely the list of features you want to have for your new phone.
