How many years can a person use the same smartphone with moderate usage

Based on research by Counterpoint, the average smartphone replacement cycle is 21 months.
However, if you have intention to use smartphone as long as possible, I would love to add a fact that iPhone is a smartphone which has longest support from their manufacture a.k.a Apple. Currently, the smartphone which was released on 2015, still received the latest OS update. So we can say that an iPhone still have good software support until 6 years.
In fact, there are many people around me still use the 5S these days. Surely some adjustment need to be done, especially regarding to battery. Commonly we can expect a moderate usage would make the battery survive about 2–3 years. Battery replacement after long period of usage is a must.
So, I can say realistically, we can use an iPhone in optimum performance till about 5–6 years.
